Obesity / Massive Weight Loss
By and large, body contouring procedures to correct the cosmetic defects remaining after massive weight loss (MWL) are modeled on classic cosmetic surgery procedures. The basic anatomy in a MWL (I will define as a weight loss of about 50 pounds, though others may have a different definition) patient is no different from a non-MWL patient. However, there are special considerations, and procedures must be modified to achieve optimum, safe results in the MWL patient.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) |
Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck is a body contouring procedure that surgically removes excess skin, stretch marks, scars and fat. The abdominal muscle and skin layers are tightened; the abdomen, flanks, and even the mons (groin) areas are lifted and shaped.

Brachioplasty |
Brachioplasty, or upper arm lift, as a contouring procedure designed to sculpt the upper arm. Brachioplasty involves surgically removing the excess skin and fat, usually between the underarm (axilla), and elbow. The deep strength layers are also tightened and liposuction is frequently performed at the same time.
